Services
CCT offers a number of services to members of the University
and non-University patrons.
Non-university groups or individuals may contact the
CCT for the hire and use of facilities for public and private functions.
In accepting requests for the use of facilities, the University reserves
the right to service its own instructional obligations. The Gateway
Building is ideal for larger groups when these require also small group
discussions. The Lecture Theatres offer an ideal setting for a public
lecture. All lecture venues come with audio amplification. Other optional
services may be requested depending of the requirements of the occasion.
Please contact Mr. Keith Rogerson on extension 2433.
CCT operates on a charge-back system to cover its expenses.
Departments/Institutes using CCT, the Lecture Centre or the Gateway
services for class instruction purposes during normal university working
hours are only charged for the cost of consumables. Yet these same
entities will be charged for any personnel overtime cost for functions
taking place after office hours. Every attempt is made to provide a
cost-sharing exercise when multiple functions are taking place at the
same time. In such instances, before a reservation can be confirmed,
CCT would require that the request for services be accompanied by a
signed authorisation to charge the Department/Institute through a direct
transfer of funds by University Administration.
Non-university groups or university groups organising
functions in conjunction with non-university entities are charged for
the use of facilities, equipment and personnel services. In such cases
the organising body is issued a bill for services requested which must
be settled with the Accounts Department of the University before the
activity takes place. Failure to present a receipt for the settlement
of the bill may result in the cancellation of the function.
